Virtues are good habits. They incline us to do good and
avoid evil easily and more often. The opposite of virtue is vice. By doing good and avoiding evil, we do not
only do good, but also, we become better persons. A virtuous person follows
Christ closely in his holiness and becomes part of the continuation of His
mission here on earth.
In our day to day basis, we are always pre-occupied of the
things brought by this busy world; and we can’t argue with that. It is part of
the transition we are coming into. But, challenge is: Do not let yourself be
flood so as it will not change you too much, most especially our attitude and
habits; our virtues.
Here are some little things that I want to share with you
that you can also apply and add to your habits or virtues you want to achieve:
1.
Apologize more.
It will be
hard on practicing it but you ought to give it try, making it into practice.
They say that in practicing, it makes its way into perfection of something and
this has never been an exemption. Accepting one’s fault may also be complex but
remember, “Nothing will be lost in true
humility”.
2.
Ask what you can do better.
A
philosopher once said that, “Everything is in constant flux”. Nothing is
stationary, nothing stays the same. Remember that you can always make things
better than good. Enough is not always good enough. So you can do better. You
are not the same as your yesterday; And you can only attain it by asking
yourself: What can I do better?
3.
Assume the best in others.
No matter
how vile a person is, he has still a heart- which always tends to love and
care. Always see the best in others. Never set them in cage of your
impressions. We all have our weaknesses inside us. Show them that you believe
in them, that they can and you are never losing a chance that they can achieve
the best in them.
4.
Attend daily mass.
This is
just advisable for those who are one step-away from you parishes. If you are
living in a faraway area, rest assure that you don’t miss your Sundays and Holy
Days of Obligation (i.e. Jan. 1, Dec. 8 and Dec. 25). Attending mass is the
attending the Holy Sacrifice of our Lord. This is the highest form of prayer
from which we commune with God and thank Him for what He had done for you and
for us.
5.
Accept on what is present.
Enjoy what you have now, no matter what or how you are
dealing with. Accept on what you have today. Never regret what you are not. The
reason why you are not what you wanted to be is maybe because God wants you to
be there and the best is coming in your way, sooner! Today is a gift that’s why
it is called “present”. Always remember,
“Life was never meant to endure, but to enjoy!”
Men are designed by God to be good because we are in made in
His own image and likeness. We are free to choose what is fitting for us to be
worthy called as “Children of God” and thus practice it to be a good habit!
This are just some few things that I learned in my daily
life and still am striving for it to be a constant habit of mine- bearing it
always in mind. If you have things or other ideas that you’ve encountered while
reading this, you are very much welcome to comment it below or message me
through my email. Stay Blessed!
