Pope Francis announced at the end of the closing Mass of the previous World Youth Day in Rio de Janiero that Krakow, Poland will be the venue for the World Youth Day 2016. This will be the second time Poland hosting this grace-filled celebration. The first was the World Youth Day 1991 in Czestochowa.
In the Message of His Holiness for the Thirty-First World Youth Day in 2016 during the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in August 15, 2015 he asked us to allow ourselves be inspired with the theme of the next World Youth DAy 2016: "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."(Mt.5:7)
